Reflection

Looking back through my work, I realized has been a big learning experience and I have again gained several useful and thought-provoking information. The knowledge and understanding that I have achieved from experimenting and researching various topics has changed me which can be seen in my ideas and development.

However, I would like to improve my processing skills because I think too hard about the theme and it takes over, which strangles my ideas sometimes. When I relax I start to think much more freely and start to think outside the box. I start to open my mind to other artist’s work and my surroundings analyzing possibilities.

The strongest part of my work ethic has been the experimenting stage. I think once I have the ideas in my head I am quite good at playing around and juggling them around. I would not be able to create design ideas if I did not do my research thoroughly, because this has helped me the most. When I am stuck I can always revert back to my research for inspiration.

Reflecting on my work I think I had some good ideas but I chose the ones that I thought were the strongest and also the ones that my tutor agreed with and thought were good. There was one idea that I thought was good which I did not use but it was a little too busy and the other one suited the brief more and stood out much more.

The feedback I got from the forum and my tutor have both have helped me through my development and helped me tremendously with finding areas of my design that I might have missed had I not taken their advice. Their advice has aided me to improve my work.

I have learnt in this module that ‘more is less’ and looking at my work from this view point I can really understand its meaning. Everything looks neater, more professional and noticeable to the audiences. They can focus on the design without getting over powered by the noise, which makes it too hard to focus on the message.

Assessing my typography I probably needed to think more about how to present it because I tended to think more about the image and the typography became secondary. I did realize this and tried to address it by working on the typography with the image. When I showed the poster that I had chosen to my tutor she said that the sub heading was to weighty which I noticed straight away but because I had been looking at it for so long I hadn’t noticed. I love feedback on my work. I change the weight of the text from bold to regular and reduced the size so that it did not take you away from the main title. After doing this I noticed that it looked better and the focus was more on the title of event instead of the subheading.

The programme design took me a while to do and I kept it to the style of my poster by using the same colours from the poster and keeping the funny facial expression idea just like my poster design. I have thought very much about my target audiences and I made sure that the style of the program would appeal to teenagers, children and families by making the program simple but fun.
